Global Voices for Democracy. Shaping U.S Policy on Pakistan's Crisis!

Voice of Pakistani Americans (VOPA) has released a preliminary report based on approximately 800 responses, with 45% of the respondents from the USA and the remaining from other parts of the world. The survey also includes a state-by-state breakdown within the U.S. It features four key questions aimed at understanding the opinions of Pakistani Americans on how the upcoming administration of President Donald Trump can play a role and engage to resolve the ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan, address the military’s involvement in the political arena, and counter the suppression of the major political party led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan

Remittances Boycott by Overseas Pakistanis.

Voice of Pakistani Americans (VOPA) conducted a sample survey from January 27 to February 8, 2025, to evaluate the willingness of overseas Pakistanis to withhold remittances as a peaceful protest following Imran Khan’s call. The survey included two key questions posed to participants, and the results are presented in the graphs below, showcasing the percentage of respondents.

Key Findings:

  • Participation: Approximately 1,500 overseas Pakistanis responded to the survey.

  • Major Respondent Countries: The majority of responses came from Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, the

  • United Kingdom, Canada, Qatar, and other key diaspora hubs.

  • Geographical Limitations: Due to reach constraints, the survey did not effectively penetrate several other countries with a significant Pakistani diaspora presence, potentially affecting the breadth of representation.

This survey provides insight into the sentiments of overseas Pakistanis regarding their role in political and economic activism through withholding remittances as a form of protest.
